Will Obama be ready for this ?

As if Obama hasn't been overwhelmed enough.
Ginsburg: Supreme Court opening coming soon.
But, there may be nothing to worry about.

After all, he has done so well so far.

Obama quietly and without fanfare increases Federal Revenues

President Obama has shown that when he sees a good idea, he runs with it.

Taking a cue from the Chairman of The House Committee on Ways and Means, Rep. Charles Rangel D–NY, President Obama's Cabinet picks have been a carefully orchestrated example of finding the best and brightest men from a list of tax-delinquents; thereby assuring their correcting their delinquencies and pouring funds into the Federal coffers.

Thank you Mr. President. Brilliant !

Honest Mistake ? Yeah ! Right !

President-Elect Obama's SecTrez designee, Timothy Geithner, it has been reported, has, in the past, had some tax issues.

The reports have been about how he seemed to have overlooked paying self-employment taxes for money he earned from 2001 to 2004 while in the employ of the International Monetary Fund, according to materials released by the committee Tuesday.

Could happen to anyone.
Breitbart has
He paid some of the taxes in 2006, after an IRS audit discovered the discrepancy for taxes paid in 2003 and 2004. But it wasn't until much later—days before Obama tapped him to head Treasury late last year—that Geithner paid back most of the taxes, incurred in 2001 and 2002. He did so after Obama's transition team found that Geithner had made the same tax mistake his first two years at the IMF as the one the IRS found he made during his last two years there.
Good thing he had friends looking out for him.

Even the very brilliant and wise Judge Joseph Napolitano thinks it is good to have someone in that position that has had troubles with the IRS.

He is probably correct. No, I will go so far as to say, I wholeheartedly agree with him.

But........
all of this stuff is because he "forget" to pay his taxes in an "honest mistake".

The thing is, I heard otherwise today. When I actually checked, I was able to verify that it was known as soon as yesterday that Mr Geithner was told that he had to pay his taxes himself, and signed paperwork to the effect that he knew it, and would do so.
But, there is more
IMF issues several clear guidelines each year for its employees detailing their responsibility to pay all their self-employment taxes, and that Geithner had signed annual statements saying that he would do so. He also had experience dealing with such taxes, the panel noted.

So, knock off the "Honest Mistake" crap, and just answer the damn question,

WHY ?

Not that we need to ask.

It was because it was your money, you earned it and you didn't want to give it away.

Just say so, we all understand.

Chicago politics - coming to a State near you

Or is it already there ?

The Washington Post has this
A federal grand jury is investigating whether a financial firm improperly won more than $1.4 million in work for the state of New Mexico shortly after making contributions to political action committees of Gov. Bill Richardson (D).

There is so much more to this than at first blush. Obama has surrounded himself with this type of pol for so long that he doesn't even notice it anymore. But, this is change.

In the past several years of The Bush administration there have been allegations of such things. In Iraq. And now, about the George W. Bush Presidential Library. In nearly eight years.

We aren't even to the inauguration of The One and we already have the chief of staff and the Sec.Com. having cookie jars with their lids slightly ajar.

Change is gonna come

Who is thinking of these things ?

The next Secretary of Education is to be – drum roll, please –
Chicago schools chief Arne Duncan

The man who did such a great job with the Chicago school system that the Obamas sent their daughters to a private school !

Is this stuff for real ?!?!?!?

A very good reason for Arne Duncan as the next Sec.Ed. is he enjoyed playing pickup basketball as well as touring schools with Obama and is also an Harvard alumnus.

Wouldn't a wiser choice be New York schools chancellor Joel Klein, who wants teachers and schools held accountable for the performance of students. Oh, wait, he wants teachers and schools held accountable for the performance of students. That would be against the grain of coddling BIG Unions.
Or , "Joel Klein is not someone we would be happy with as secretary of education," NEA lobbyist Joel Packer said.

But, nothing comes close to the strong support of the other BIG Union as does this small statement; "Arne Duncan actually reaches out and tries to do things in a collaborative way," said Randi Weingarten, head of the 1.4 million-member American Federation of Teachers.

Way to soft sell that he will strengthen your Unions stranglehold on the "testing-technology complex".
